Construction Site Sanitation Guide for Project Managers
An in-depth guide from the Stockton portable toilet team at Delphine.
📞 Call (209) 209-9169OSHA's portable sanitation requirements are straightforward, but the details — placement, ratios, accessibility, servicing — trip up many project managers. Here's what every Stockton-area construction PM should know.
OSHA Ratios
One portable toilet per 10 workers per 40-hour week. For shorter shifts or partial weeks, ratios scale proportionally. Adding a second unit at 11 workers and a third at 21 is the standard approach.
Servicing Frequency
Weekly servicing is the OSHA minimum. High-use sites or hot weather may justify twice-weekly. Always document servicing for compliance.
Placement Best Practices
Place units on level, stable ground within reasonable walking distance of work zones. Avoid placement directly upwind of break areas. Provide handwashing stations within 100 feet.
ADA Compliance
Project sites with accessible workers must include at least one ADA-compliant unit. We supply these at no upcharge on standard rentals.
Cold Weather Considerations
In Stockton's mild climate, freezing is rare but possible. We add antifreeze to holding tanks during cold snaps to prevent damage.
